The Proust Questionnaire


The Proust Questionnaire, the 19th-century parlor game popularized by contemporaries of Marcel Proust, the French essayist and novelist, was believed to reveal an individual’s true nature. Vanity Fair uses a similar questionnaire that is regularly seen on the back page of the magazine, answered by various celebrities. The following questions are taken from that version.



What is your idea of perfect happiness?
My little family traveling all over. Always exploring and trying new things. 



What is your greatest fear?
Oscar being hurt or taken.



Which historical figure do you most identify with?
I feel completely stumped by this. So many that I admire and receive inspiration from, but I don't feel close to identifying with them because I am so insignificant by comparison. 



Which living person do you most admire? 
Dolly Parton.



What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?
Laziness. The things I could and would accomplish if I would just focus and turn off the screen.



What is the trait you most deplore in others?
Chosen Ignorance



What is your greatest extravagance?
Either yarn or books. 



On what occasion do you lie?
When I think I am making the right decision. 



What do you dislike most about your appearance?
My chin. 



When and where were you happiest?
Oscar's first Easter. We walked to the park across the street and had a mini picnic of muffins and chocolate eggs and then played on the playground. We put Oz in a swing for the first time and he loved it. The air was perfect. We went home and had a nice home cooked meal and we were just happy.  It was a perfect day.

If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?
I would try and be more patient.



If you could change one thing about your family what would it be?
co-dependence.



What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Doing okay at this motherhood thing.



If you died and came back as a person or thing what do you think it would be?
a movie projector (thing) or a manatee. 



What is your most treasured possession?
my wedding rings. 



What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?
not having a plan forward. 



Who are your heroes in real life?
anyone who can improve upon a shitty situation. people who aren't defeated by the odds. people who are 100% honest and satisfied with who they are.



What is it that you most dislike?
Rudeness



How would you like to die?
With a quiet chuckle.
